Our new book ’20 Years of talkSPORT’ is out now as we celebrate two decades of sensational sports radio.
There have been so many classic stories over the years not every one could be included in the collection, as we packed the best of the bunch into 279 pages of solid gold.
Tales from trips to World Cups and European Championships are all in there, where the presenters and producers got into all sorts of scrapes and situations.
Classic clips from callers, presenters, and newsreaders also feature thanks to the hilarious slips and gaffes.
But one man had so many stories we just couldn’t fit them all into the book. Had we done so the tome would have resembled War and Peace.
Ray Parlour has been a stalwart at talkSPORT giving superb insight about Arsenal, revealing classic stories from the bootroom, and providing Alan Brazil with a pal to drink with.
One of his finest stories which didn’t make the cut involved legendary defender Kolo Toure who formed part of Arsene Wenger’s defence when they won the title unbeaten back in 2003/04.
Before signing for the Gunners from ASEC Mimosas, the Ivorian needed to go through a trial under the watchful eye of manager Arsene Wenger.
It should have been straight forward but the centre-back made a big impact on his new boss, and two of his team-mates – literally.
Thankfully Parlour was able to tell us the incredible story on talkSPORT and you can listen to it above.
